TJH 24-Dec-15 19:12 Brian, The straws are the receptacles for the struts. Struts are made of the normal material but a little longer. Regarding the flattening, originally these were concave as seen in this photo, I later changed to a flat bottom airfoil. BTW - Merry Christmas!
