sorry this is new to me. the stirrers are the struts? what do you mean by flattened down the bottom of the ribs? |

Brian,
The straws are the receptacles for the struts. Struts are made of the normal material but a little longer. Regarding the flattening, originally these were concave as seen in this photo, I later changed to a flat bottom airfoil.
