| By comparison to others, this is just a bump in my life's road. Unfortunately as you get older, life's bumps are harder and harder to deal with. Right now, this is a bump and a pot hole.... now depression is winning. |

So sorry to see this, but at least you are here to talk about it. A tree just missed our house by 10', and we just had power restored about an hour after a good friend drove an hour to bring his generator here, so we consider ourselves lucky in the big picture. |

| My problem is pallor in comparison to the storm destruction in the surrounding area. With time, and I am afraid it shall be a good deal of time, this area of the country will bounce back. |

| O-man, so sorry to see this but glad you're safe.
Just got power back this morning. 100% of jackson was w/o power. Lost some trees in the woods on the property but others weren't as lucky. "Only" a category 1 storm, I couldn't begin to fathom a cat5. |

| Bad news. Since the storm was a hurricane, my hurricane deductible is 5% the value of the house. We have to pay out of pocket for the garage and tree removal. Deductible about 25K. I paid 46K for the house way back when! |

| At least you are not with one of those insurance companies that decided to drop hurricane coverage altogether after Katrina. It's like earthquake insurance. In California we have no earthquake coverage in our homeowners policy. We have to add a special policy, backed by a State authority and that has deductibles of 10% or 15% with other limits on personal property. Insurance companies don't like risk. |
