This was the first kit I did (as practice) when I came back to building "stick and paper". Mine did not come out to this quality. Really looks good, great job. |

Dale, great job again. Have you posted any of your builds over at the Guillows forum? Good job with the tissue, how do you attatch it? One last question, on your B29 did you use Silkspan or Esaki tissue? |

WOW! Appreciate all your comments. Enjoyed checking out your builds of the P-40. Especially liked the Chinese versions. Now I've got some questions to answer.
jace - Two coats clear dope; then rub lightly with worn Scotch Bright pad; no primer; 3 coats Krylon for good coverage. |

scigs - I haven't sent photos to Guillows, since I modify their construction by doubling ribs and stringers. The B-29 was done in kit tissue. On my more recent builds, if I don't like the kit tissue, I use the white Esaki tissue. |

scigs - Tissue application - Two to three coats of clear dope to framework, let dry. Lay tissue over frame. Stroke areas of framework with small brush dipped in acetone. Immediate adhesion. Repossioning is possible by restroking with acetone. Because of the acetone, I don't recommend this method, but it works for me. I wear a respirator when doing this. |

Dale, Have you ever flown any of your models? |
Dale1416 | 09-Jul-11 17:35 |
No - get my flying in with RC electric foam scale planes. Enjoyed the great pics of your P-40s in flight. |
