poppy | 14-Sep-13 12:02 | Ted built this out of plywood and jelutong wood. Jelutong is a very fine grained wood a bit heavier than basswood. Most of shaping is done with a wood rasp. there are no flaws or cracks to be filled, and all contours are perfect. This 33 1/4" span model will weigh in at around 4 lbs. when finished, compared to my B-29 at 8 lbs.. His tecnique makes this model all the more special. The trailing edges of wings and tail feathers are almost razor thin. |
poppy | 14-Sep-13 19:05 | This build is by frwyflyer(Ted Richards). I am only adding the finishing touches and paint to it. |
frwyflyer | 15-Sep-13 06:06 | Poppy is fooling.. He will turn this UGLY DUCKLING into a real nice model. There is much work to be done at this stage of he build. Surface prep, filling and painting of all the sub assemblies before the final assembly and detailing. I am very happy that Poppy is doing this work as I just like to make sawdust :-). |
