Don C | 07-Sep-18 10:46 | Nice job, DD. Is that wheel going to be attached? |
David Duckett | 07-Sep-18 11:02 | Thanks! Indeed it will be! |
kenm94591 | 07-Sep-18 12:58 | Another beauty. I see you used the technique you told me about not having to paint the blue on the insignia. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience. |
rayl | 07-Sep-18 17:40 | Fine, Fine, Fine. |
David Duckett | 07-Sep-18 17:55 | Thanks! This is my first use of Tamiya masking tape, having used all the Pactra 1/8" I had on the Gee Bee, and I am very pleased with it. It's 3mm which is basically 1/8". It has a plastic feel and is quite flexible, even enough to mask an inside curve. |
jgood | 08-Sep-18 11:27 | Very nice, David. |
David Duckett | 09-Sep-18 17:29 | Thank you, James. |
David Duckett | 29-Sep-18 14:36 | I have a 1/48 scale Revell plastic model of this being used as a reference and a Telasco kit of the Cougar at about 1/15 scale. Comparing them I found that the Cleveland kit is even more off than the previously mentioned jet intakes. This kit has a fuselage shaped more like an oval than the circle it should be and you can see how slim it is. The Cougar will have the correct shape. |
Creosotewind | 01-Oct-18 16:21 | David, was this kit in their Industrial Training line? I think those were less concerned about scale, and more about...I don't really know. But all were to have about a 36" wingspan. You made it look really nice. |
David Duckett | 01-Oct-18 20:04 | Thank you. It is an industrial training kit, same as the F-80, and while I like the way it looks, it will always nag me that it's wrong. I can forgive myself if I make a mistake and just chalk it up to being a dumb ass. |
heywooood | 02-Oct-18 23:18 | Can I borrow some chalk, Dave?...I've used mine up..twice |
Don C | 03-Oct-18 10:07 | You're not alone. |
