| I'll be building it in the same 3/4 scale (1/16) as the Mossie and all the other recent acquisitions. Wingspan is about 27 1/2". The Guillows kit is supposed to be the same scale but isn't. The wheels on the Guillows kit are the same 1/34" standard wheels they're so fond of but on these plans they are 2". The canopy here is also much different. I've ordered a 1/48 scale Tamiya kit for reference but have no idea when this will actually come up for build. The FW-190 is one of my favorite planes and the House of Balsa version already in my hanger is not true scale so this will be built:-) |

| An interesting note is that a famous Mossie Ace (can't remember his name, but he was a leading British nightfighter pilot) was brought down by a German ace flying an Fw 190A-?. A number of years ago I read an article about them meeting after the war. Quite feat for the German since so few Mossies were brought down. |

| A quick check with wings palette.com reveals the FW-190A saw service with several countries. Even the United States had some captured ones, and fairly unusual color schemes on them, too. |

| In comparing the 1/48 plastic kit to the Cleveland plans I discovered the wheels are actually closer to the Guillows 1 3/4", the wingspan is about 2" too long and it's just over half an inch too long. There are two styles of canopies included in the plastic kit and one is like the one in the Guillows kit. So...the Guillows kit is actually closer to scale! That's alright, I don't mind the differences as long as I'm aware of them. |
