I think you'll find the Hellcat even more fun since it looks a bit more realistic than this. Your covering all looks great so you've answered your own question about how tight it should be. As to sanding...only as much as necessary to make it all smooth and straight. Sanding blocks and a T-bar sander are essential tools. On a side note, the cactus in the painting on the right is a Prickly Pear and is everywhere around here.
