Don C | 31-Jan-17 12:50 | OK, I need some help. I've been trying to make this 3 piece "canopy" for a month now with varying degrees of failure. Anybody have an idea? Is there clear plastic which is pliable like cardstock? |
Huey V77 | 31-Jan-17 13:20 | Don, I picked up some .020 Lexan at my local hobby shop. We used it at Titan to make the windshield on the Tornado, also the landing light lenses. Although it was .060 it would bend easy. Add some heat after bending it would set to shape. You can bend and crease the .020 material with out cracking. Might work. |
Huey V77 | 31-Jan-17 13:27 | Just checked with my Hobby shop and there is .010 available. That would bend easier and not crack. |
LASTWOODSMAN | 31-Jan-17 13:54 | Those clear plastic file folder sleeves might work - I have some 4.5 thou, 5 thou, and 6 thou plastic that is pliable yet probably strong enough with the frames glued to it. |
Don C | 18-Feb-17 11:56 | Thanks for the help. Been fighting some sort of crud that has invaded the Valley for weeks. Very little shop time. However, in a foray to the big city for a Dr's visit, I discovered that a Hobby Lobby has appeared in the Big Box Store section of town. There, hidden among cute little signs, plastic flowers, paper and at least half of China's output I found some .015 plastic sheets. A couple of hours work provided me with more of the same. Found some .006 on Amazon. We'll see. |
