SteveM | 09-May-08 15:10 | Ah yes, right near the top. As one RC pilot of 38+ years told me - next time crash lower in the tree. |
Creosotewind | 09-May-08 15:23 | While I hate seeing this as the end result, I do love the photos of the planes flying in the air. It's where they are supposed to be. Good luck. |
sweetwillie | 09-May-08 15:44 | Steve, airplanes and trees are nice to see, just not together. there should be at least 10 feet of separation. Ouch!! |
jgood | 09-May-08 16:16 | Oh dear! How big is the sky that you were flying in? How small is that tree in comparison? :) How was the flight before the 'twiggy encounter'? Sounds like you got some good stick time in this time around... |
SteveM | 09-May-08 16:30 | Good point James, I did a darn good job in hitting this small target. Pre-tree I got in about three 20 minute flights and the Tyro handled very nicely. There was a gentle NNW breeze so I got good experience flying upwind, downwind, and crosswind. I would say I got in more flying time this morning than all previous flights combined. Now I just wish the tree climbing guy would call me back and let me know if/when he can return her to me.
I almost forgot - the icing on the cake. I got home and got on the bike, only to find the speedometer was not working. Fortunately my butt is well calibrated and knows how fast I am going ±5 MPH. |
