Initially we built the kit per the instructions, including the trough for the Jetex motor. Then we decided to build it as a display model and began to add extra balsa to the structure. We ran out of ideas and motivation to complete the model and put it away for a couple of years. After seeing David Duckett's work we learned a lot of ideas and are motivated to finish some of these old projects.

google F4d walk around or go to: http://www.primeportal.net/hangar/bill_spidle3/f4d-1_134764/ for some great shots of the Skyray. Looks great so far.

Thanks for the comment and F4D link. Our F4D book by Ginter & Williams tells us the F4D #134764 is the one on display at NAS Patuxent River. As a young teenager we saw a couple of F4Ds fly overhead. In more recent years we’ve had the opportunity to view two more F4Ds; one at the Pima County air museum and one a the Naval Air Museum at Pensacola.
