Cloth hinge & 2 front canopy stays had to be sewn on. (No gluing parts to plastic) |
Pauli72, Image # 27155 | 07 Sep 12 03:43 |
I still need to trim off the excess cloth hinge & paint it. |

Putting the "hinges" on the functioning landing gear doors. Hinges in this case are sewn on with needle & kit supplied thread. |

I took Poppy's tip on using colored tape for banding the rockets instead of painting. The 2 silver bands on each are strips of duct tape :-) |

Thanks Mr. Wilson & RTD89. I was kinda apprehensive to start slathering paint on this model for the shark heads, but I figured what the heck, I've been working on this too long...so just get 'er done! I'm pretty happy with how they've turned out. Cue the JAWS theme music...lol |

I ended up free handing instead of DIYwater slide decals. Started with 2 coats of Testor's red, then the white outline of the jaws. Then I added the choppers by looking at a picture I posted earlier on the build log. The teeth still need some dental work...er...I mean 2nd coat with touch-up. |

Thanks Mr. Wilson. I just freehanded the painting. The top fuselage is done, the bottom one still needs some tweeking. I wonder if the actual airplane painters did similar, because all the patterns I've found are slightly different. |

Very Nice. When you did the color separations did you mask it with tape or did you just freehand with a brush? Thanks |

Thanks guys. I know progress has been slow, but I get bogged down in details sometimes. (trees for the forrest). Between that, and my work schedule...ugh! Anyway, Now I'll be doing panel lines & small details/cleanup. Then She'll be ready to start assembling. :-) There's a real P-38 flying at the local airshow this weekend. That'll be good motivation...lol. |
