I'm having trouble with the canopy, the candy plastic is clouding in the oven, I suspect the plastic may be too thick. I'll keep trying. Everything else is going OK. I now start papering.

It took a lot of work, cutting and fitting to get the wings in place.

It's starting to look like an Me 262.

The nose has been drilled to provide for the nose mounted gun camera lense.

The engine cowl reshaped a little to give the Jumo engine cowl top profile a litle more roundness.

I like the plans that are on Parker Information Resources. I will plan to build it similar to a 400 series Guillow's kit. One problem is that there is not an electric ducted fan that has enough thrust and a small enough diameter to maintain the scale appearance of the engine housing. As you can see from your model the intake is quite small. It would have to be increased from 32mm to 50mm in order to get enough thrust for an RC conversion at 1/16 scale.

I've had to add a layer on top of the engine and reshape.

Thanks Simon, What plans etc. are you thinking of using? The Shorty's are a abit of a tough build for me -- a lot of finagling to do the fuselage and a lot of hacking to get the wings to fit in place.

Jerry, very nice so far. I'm watching your build closely to get some pointers. I have been toying with the idea of a 1/16 scale RC Me-262 to match the 1/16 Guillow's kits.

The starboard engine is tial fitted. A little more work must be done to the engine.

One of the engine cowls is shaped and Aero Glossed while the other is waiting to be shaped.

The wings are built and doped and sanded.

The fin and rudder are trial fitted in place. The plans call for 1/16th balsa for the fin and rudder assembly, however I used the thicker 3/16, it looks better and is much easier to work with.

The tail feathers recieve the same treatment of Aero Gloss.

The 1/24th scale Me 262 fuselage is built, doped, sanded, and had nose blacked added and shaped. after being shaped generous amounts of Aero Gloss Balsa Fillercoat Primer are brushed and sanded, time after time.

can't wait to see this build.

I bought this decal sheet when I was thinking of doing the kit in it's 1/32 scale. The top is Galland's aircraft. However, some 25 years ago, when I was building plastic I remember a article/interview with Galland in which he described lhis 262 carrying the Mickey Mouse. The article featured a drawing of his 262 with a mickey mouse on the side just like it was carried on his 109. Of course the Color Police official said he was "probably mistaken", I am not one to disagree with the General's discription of his own plane, so I will finish it with a MIckey Mouse.

as always you can't have to much reference. This three view is off the computer.

The printwood sheet was glued to 1/16 balsa with a glue stick and cut out.
