Excellent job Steve, the wood grain looks great. I think Eduard Ritter von Schleich would be proud. |

It's not night over here, and your wood grain looks great even in the English sunlight, sunlight at least for a few minutes. |

Thanks Poppy, you night owl. I'm not pleased with all areas of the wood effect, but am happy enough with this first attempt. |

Incredible! This looks like varnished wood. This is what really set the Albatros apart from the other WW1 birds. I think Italy had one with varnished wood also. Had a V type rear fuselage. The Pfalz D111 was also covered w/plywood but almost always was painted. |

Checking out what it should look like. Up next are the prop, engine, and some teeth. |

Painting of the body is complete. Black stripe is some Pactra tape, hopefully some Krylon crystal clear will blend it in. |

Cockpit coaming is some solid core wire that I had laying around. Works okay but is not ideal. |

Landing gear added. You can also see some of the "wood" that was painted on. |

This is just keeps getting better and better. That's a perfect color for the underside of wings. Beautiful. |

You're making my ears turn red. I have my oil painting teacher to thank for that, though I am about 15 years out of practice. |

Just in case y'all haven't noticed, you're in the hands of a dedicated craftsman here who knows quite a bit about color as well. Gorgeous! |

Paint is progressing nicely. Gray area will be painted to look somewhat like wood. |

Test panel of wood with and w/o panel lines. Stringers may act as panel lines regardless if that is my intent. |

My last comment included a link to the 20% off sale at Shorty's Basement. But I think my html code clashed with James' new code for urls and have broken the comments. =( |
