A factor to consider when wet covering is the humidity. The humidity is always higher in the house than outside so covering open framework must be done inside. Outside it's simply too dry and will dry the dope before the silkspan adheres to the frame. On solid models everything gets doped so covering can be done outside. The advantage is that things dry quickly but the disadvantage is that you have to work fast. It's exactly the same on canvas. |

thanks David, I like a lot of these color schemes, but these are later and slightly larger FC-2w's (i believe) the fuselage doesn't pinch together behind the wing like the kit. I'll post a built pic showing the detail. its driving me crazy, but in a fun way as I enjoy searching/nitpicking stuff like this! |

Heinrich beat me to it. Looks great just the skeleton alone. |

Thanks, yes I did and actually left one uncovered which I had hanging in a local shop but when the shop moved the plane vanished. On any of the planes with this open structure, I'm always tempted to leave it as is and in several cases I wish I had. The major drawback is that it would offer a zillion more places for dust than a covered one. I guess that's why I post pics of the process. |

Very nice. Did you ever consider building a skeleton model, i.e. not covering it? |

Thanks for the tour David, it was great and best of all, it was free! Hehe, if you ever feel the need to clear up some space let me know! Have you ever considered selling some of your planes or do they circulate in and out of the closets? |
