LoganB...Yep same place. Not sure where you were but, next time try the AT-6 Texan at the Kissimmee Airport. Pricey, but a blast!!! I did the AT-6 several times till I found Waldos. |

No I ain't NOT giving up the modeling!!! Over a year ago we bought a new place and put ours up for sale. At that point model "stuff' had to be put away for "showings". Then the market went bust. Now 15 mos. later we are in the new place with boxes stacked to the ceiling and a "Honey Do List" longer than my arm. When I catch up the Tigercat still awaits the stubby, shakey fingers of the Apprentice. "I'll be back"!!!! |

The open cockpit was a greater "kick" than flying the AT-6 |

A single .30 cal maching gun on a T-6 could be devistating in American hands too. Late in 1943, one pilot was in advanced training just before converting to P-47's. He was taking an armed T-6 out to the Gulf for gunnery practice when, flying a little lower than regs allowed just as he was crossing the bayou, he heard a pitter patter noise on the bottom of the wing. He banked sharpely and saw "some idiot" down in a duck boat on the bayou who had just taken a pot shot at him and scored a hit. He decided to return the favor and made a pass at the boat with the .30, opening up far enough short that the guy in the boat had time to jump in the bayou before the boat was cut in half. Unfortunately for the pilot, the "idiot" in the boat was a local politician who made a few phone calls and the next morning, the pilot was demoted and was in bombardier school. Fortunately, his later conduct offset this minor glitch in his service record and he eventually retired from the Air Force as a brigader general. Not just a story, this disciplinary action is listed on the web. |

Thanks for the compliment, Poppy. Not sure about a mishap in Kissimmee. Warbird Adventures is located there and yes, these are accurate markings for the one I flew. I have been doing the flying thing there for about 5 years. |
