Interesting...since I joined this site, I was routinely throwing away the parts on previous models that I am now spending lots of time on !! |

3/32 is the thickness 😊 |

By the way, how's the P-38 coming?

Probably 1/16 or 3/32. Sometimes on a round an area I use 1/8 and keep it high so that you can sand the edges down to the stringers, but leave the center higher in order to get "round". |

Thanks, that's what I did. |

Don, looks like the "hump" is only on the right side of the fin if you are looking from behind. I did mine just like DD. I hope this helps :) |

The F-14 was retired from US naval service in 2006 and replaced with the F-18. The Iranians still have a few Tomcats. |

In the Guillows catalog found in kits, number 09-13, this photo is used to illustrate the 1400 series. Congratulations!! |

they don't use the f-14 anymore, the f-18 replaced it? |

I believe that they were first introduced on the F-111B in the early 60's and was called AIM-47. When the F14 was introduced, it was the primary aircraft of choice (AIM-54). Since the F14 Tomcat is retired, they use AIM-120, short range version on the F18's. |

now that's a fine tomcat! is the f-14 the only fighter to carry the phoenix missile? |
