Looks like he got the new entry made but you might have to ask him to move these over. Of course if you don't care to keep the comments you could delete them via the button at the top of the image then reload the image to the proper place.

I had asked James to create a new title. He did but he didn't put these under it. How do I do it?

Cool, it will be interesting to see how this compares to the Guillow's kit. Though you might consider reposting these under the correct entry so we can find the pictures later on.

SW...How many gallons of covering total?

I've tried to put troughs in for the guns, but they don't look right. I think I need to put the dowel in a drill motor and try it. I tried doing it by hand, and I'm not pleased with the results. I sprayed it with four coats of gloss white from a spray can and then sprayed it with Minwax clear gloss polyurethane. The tail surfaces are covered with card stock, then coated with Future Floor wax, and sprayed with airbrush and Rust-Oleum Apple red. The stripe was hand painted with the same apple red. The silver was a cheap enamel spray can, I'm not happy with it, I'll get some better silver spray soon.

stripped to wood and covered with 1/32 balsa.

I live in Texas and it costs about the same here as it does in NJ. I have to wait for my monthly check, There's just too much month left at the end of the money. I live next to Lake Amistad,"The world's premiere bass lake", a quote from the Bassmaster Tournament Assoc. after they held their first tournament here three years ago. It turned this town into a boom town. I'm trying to upload a photo of an 11 1/2 lb. bass that I caught there a couple of years ago.

Bass does not to seem to cost much more than balsa at the shops here in NJ.

John, Thanks for the heads up on those web sites, they are new to me and I've bookmarked them and see that they contain some very helpful info. But, to be honest, I get more good tips from reading and looking at the pictures on VA.(everytime I see VA, I think of the Veterans Admin. I've been going to the hospital for consultations at least once a month for about 4 years. So everytime I see "VA" I think Vets. Funny how our mind works.

SW....Talc?? I don't use it. John O apparently does. Yes, smaller pieces work best especially for the rounded/curved areas. Applying the adhesive (Mixed Elmers is my preference) ONLY to the edges you want the tissue to stick is also the procedure. Suggest you Google Mikes Flying Scale Model pages and read all the chapters...excellent primer. Also, check out Easy Built Model sit for tips. Hope this helps.

I want to try basswood, but I live on a limited income, so I can't afford it like some of you. I didn't plan ahead when I was younger. Isn't it a shame that youth is wasted on the young!

John, I'm spritzing it with half water and half alcohol, I finally figured out that I've been trying to cover too large an area at once. I find that if I use smaller pieces of tissue , it goes better. I use Future floor wax for a sanding sealer and as a adhesive for the tissue. I find it works great and as a final coat over the whole assembly, seems to leave a very good finish. Before that I was using Elmer's glue and water but no talc. How much talc do you use?

Blasa breaking old fingers...been there Since my first model the Sopwith Camel, I have used basswood, especially the 1/16 stingers!
JohnG., Comment for image # 570509 Jan 08 08:39
Sweetwillie..are you pre-shrinking the tissue by sprizting it with water then sealing the tissue before painting???
sweetwillie, Comment for image # 570209 Jan 08 01:10
Thank's Steve, I wondered what was happening. I'll remember it.
sweetwillie, Image # 570509 Jan 08 01:09

I didn't beef up the upper wing, i hope I'm nopt sorry, It's not going to fly anyway. I've already got my red chevron painted on, Next, I'll mask it off and airbrush the yellow on. Stay tuned!!
sweetwillie, Image # 570409 Jan 08 00:55

The fuselage is a little twisted, and I had to beef up the front end to accept a motor.
