true - I should have written in the past tense - Penn Valley is gone out of business too and they seem to have had the last of the unsold inventory |

Very nice, indeed. Unfortunately they are all out of production and they don't show up on EBay very often.:-( |

these kits are large, fairly basic, and build into very nice models with a bit of effort.. |

This is the F-14 from Today's Hobbies that I built last year - the Phantom is in the background. A pair of fleet defenders from the last century |

sounds like life was good there for a bit 'stationed in Pearl' all back in the day and a whatnot...lol
Thanks for your encouragement on the model too, Ray - appreciate it. |

Sweet build Heywood. Back when, stationed in Pearl Harbor, there were a lot of "fighter Drags" transiting through Hickam AFB on their way to/from 'nam. They would hit their pattern break right over SubBase with their blown flaps and engines spooling up, it was a physical experience for sure. The only event louder was when a full squadron of KC-135,s took off at one minute intervals to support the fighter drags. |

the Scooters are interesting in lots of ways - the fact that they were part of the nuclear arsenal is one...http://nationalinterest.org/blog/the-buzz/the-mighty-4-skyhawk-was-the-us-navy%E2%80%99s-best-little-bomber-14181

Thanks Brian - The Navy F4 is probably my favorite jet aircraft..it has all the power and ability you would ever want in a fleet defender / multi-role aircraft. Effective at virtually every task it was assigned. A Hall of Fame player for sure. |

Great job on a classic a/c. The Phantom was my era in Nav Air. Those J79s would rattle your insides! |
