Jerry, Models can be successfully shipped, it just takes a custom case. There are several Brit model builders that participate in contests in the US.
Moostang, You want a flying pencil, now that's as good an excuse as I have ever heard to scratch build. |

An "anteater"..huh. Dornier built some amazing designed aircraft. Front and aft props, sits almost horizontal on the ground. Should be quite a build. My personal favorite was the Do-17 bomber but I only can find it in plastic. Dang it!!! |

I built the Widgeon because my wife and are living in London forr a few months and it's something I will abandon when we go home to Dallas. I'm now starting the West Wings' 1/21 scale Dornier Do 335. I'm starting with the small components and dtails that will fit into suitcase to take home wrapped in bubble wrap. Wish me luck with the Bush Boys at the airport, they don't look like model builders nor ones that will readly understand my explanations if they do a search. Of course I have to leave behind thinner and dope, etc. |

It's a model. It's a plane. Craftsmanship is superb. Why not be inspired. Looks great!! |

Not my most inspired aircraft, but I learned a lot in the build. |

After the starboard wing and struts were dry I added the port wing and struts. |

Final assembly went quickly. I first glued the starboard wing on and added the main wing struts. |

The wire landing gear support has been epoxied into place and the undercarraige fairing has been glued in place. The wheels have been painted yellow and the tires black. |

The wire landing gear supports were bent from a single piece of wire with constant checking agaist the plan. |

I misplaced the clear plastic that came with the kit so I cut out windshields from scrap plastic/acetate. Once the plastic/acetate was cut out I wrapped it around the xacto handle to shape it before glueing it in place with Pacer Formula 560 Canopy Glue. |

If I was in the states I might consider flying, but I'm currently living in Chelsea, in the middle of London with no place to fly. This one will be donated to some kid or simpley scrapped for parts and experience when the wife and I head home in January. |
