Mr. O.: I am appropriating this as a perfect picture for celebrating the 242nd anniversary of our Independence. Happy 4th of July! |

Don, Fortunately the rigging on this model did not present a problem as I had used music wire. |
Don C, Comment for image # 40349 | 03 Jul 18 09:15 |
Not only that, but restringing the wires is a pain. |

Skye, The more dust removed by a physical brushing or puffing, the easier the washing. If you try to just give it a bath, the dust turns to mud. |

my PT-17 & Wright Flyer are looking exactly like this "before" shot. Gotta take 'em down and give a good cleaning. Sheesh... |

I recognize that look. It definitely was worth thew effort. |

Gee I forgot that I built this one. If my memory is correct this plane returned from the war and was painted up to fly around the states at air exhibitions |

Thanks, David!
Not exactly one of the more understated color schemes that the Spad came in, but I guess that camouflage was not exactly the goal here! John O's masterful version does a great job of displaying the distinctive Spad features: the scalloped wings, the unusual engine grill, etc.
It's a pity that it is less well-known today, and that such an extraordinary individual as Eddie Rickenbacker isn't remembered as he probably should be. |

Thanks. Looking at these again, I realize that I posted the Spad on Oct. and Nov. 08....seems like only yesterday! |

Looks great. Building the Dumas SPAD XIII. Your pics are the best references I've seen yet. Keep up the great work! |
