Very nice! Not often seen in model form. The Russian plane the German pilots were advised to avoid combat with was the Yak 3. The radial-engined Lavotchkins were also said to be a match for any German fighter - except maybe the Me262, of course. |

Thanks, but this was tougher than it looks, and the decals are terrible, still fell apart after three coats of future, full markings are only on the port side. The wing leading edges pulled in with paper shrinkage. I loved the colors which is one of the reasons I did it, and of course I like the airplane. The special wood I got from a fellow on the net made the scoops much easier. |

There was a fighter plane the russians had up graded. It had a cooler scoop under the front cowl and they moved it to the under belly of the aircraft. It was very small like the spitfire. The german pilots was told to avoid it if possible.I keep thinking it was a mig3 just not fore shore!I do remeber the L2 Sturmovick was excellent at hitting there tagets. It became there work horse stopping the tank divisons and troop movement. The russains did have some good aircraft at the time. |

Never heard of the Luftwaffe being terified of any Russian aircraft. They referred to the Il-2 Sturmovick as the Flying Tank because it was so heavily armored and was so difficult to bring down. However the Stormovick was a ground attack aircraft and I'm sure German troops on the ground may have feared it. |

IS this the one that the germans where terrifed of or was it the mig 3. |

The plans are printed on one side so they can be cut apart for ease of building. However I still made a copy to cut apart. Dies kits are designed to fly with oversized tail surfaces however the plans contained dotted lines showing the scale surfaces which I am building to. |
