Hello poppy - good to hear from you. It's wood - laser cut parts and some brass fittings (cannons. windows). The hull needs the wood strips to be bent and shaped to form the hull over a frame work. This has been a year and half so far with masts, yards and rigging to go :)
This is HMS Fly. |

If this isn't fit for a maritime museum, then nothing I've seen is. Just a gorgeous build. The fine detail is incredible! |

Most of it is kit built - some things are scratch built such as the windows at the stern. As with the plane builds you can add what you want but most try and make the build as authentic to what was known from historical plans. The instruction with the kit are not accurate and hard to work out but sites on the web ( modelshipworld ) as with this forum you can get a lot of help.
Project took approx 2.5 yrs but am retired now so things should be quicker - hopefully.... |

In love with the quality and detail. Are the details here scratch built or assembled? How long did this project take? |
Dfell, Comment for image # 30858 | 22 Feb 14 05:56 |
Yes - thank you. But I still need to remember how to put the correct title - it has been a long time since I have done this :)
Okay - have worked it out now... |
