For those who haven't seen him before, this is my invaluable assistant, Schrodinger. He is three years old, weighs as much as a bowling ball, is unbelievably curious, and something of a bully with the other cats. He really does try to help, and has made the association between pushing keys and things happening on the screen. In fact, a week ago, he pushed a combination of function keys that bollixed up the drawing on the screen so badly that I had to start over. As I said, you've got to love them. |

maybe you'll have to make a balsa scratching post, john. |

There are no hard and fast production plans for this model,. I did it as a proof of capability demonstrator which got me a couple of other projects that definitely will go into production.. However, the Hawk may be released as a limited production kit. I will let everyone know if it does and how to get one. Just for size reference it has a 24 inch wing span. |

I take it this will be out in kit form at some point? If so please lets us know when you are able to say so we can get one too. |

The program is a vector drawing program called "Inkscape" that I have on my SuSE Linux box. The laser cutting is being done by the company that I designed it for. Let's just say I am no longer in the accounting software business. |

This is looking amazing, Howard. I'd be very proud of this. Who are you using for the laser cutting? And what CAD program are you using? |

Laser cut version is coming along too. |

Hawk bones just tacked together with green glue and pins for a photo. A few drops of acetone will take it apart again so I can continue building it. |

My Hurricane, for the "G" Challenge, is taking a back seat to the Hawk project for the time being. |

First laser cut lower wing |

It's starting to take shape. This, revised upper wing has laser cut parts, all the rest hand cut. |

Finally got to the fueslage. I misplaced my small try-square that day, found it later. |

Printing parts on paper and sticking them to the balsa is a lot better than back in the days of carbon paper, but this is another thing that goes a lot quicker in laser cut. |

Have the plans redrawn and am now working on the lower wing. Things like this strut pocket will work much better in laser cut. |

My first try at the wing. This is my first project using a drafting program. I'm never going back to T-square and triangle! The reference I was using wasn't accurate and the wing outline is wrong. Also, I didn't like the placement of the spars, rib spacing and the airfoil I was using so, "back to the drawing board!" |
