Never at Lime Rock, I drove a Spitfire 1500 locally here in St. Louis. My son races a track only GT 6. I don't have a schematic of the equipment installation but you can get some idea from the early pictures in the build. If I were to do it again I'd move the servos foward about 2 inches since it wants to fly with the CG pretty far forward, balances at about 3/4 inch aft of the leading edge at the wing tips.

I hate it when the trees jump up and grab our planes!

Excellent. This has captured the magic of balsa modelling, where you have both the beauty of stick and tissue and the realism of full scale.

Wow, great photo. Looks like a real Hellcat coming in for a pass. And you made the right decision to wash out that first pilot. Whoever heard of bailing out after the landing?

TR-4A? Don't tell me you were at lime Rock? Anyhow, the pictures of the Hellcat are inspirational. Do you have a schematic that shows major components installed? Or is there a reference you'd recommend?

Thanks for the compliment. If you look atall 3 flight pictures you can see a pilot. I think a pilot is worth the effort. I had to make 2 since the first one fell out in a rough landing.

lukebozek1 Nobody has evere said I resemble Paul Newman, until now; That's a nice complement. About the only thing I have in common with Paul Newman is that we both raced Triumph sports cars. The Hellcat model has 4 channels. If you look at the build thread you'll notice some beef up of the wing. Although the structure looks light the model has proven rugged, 13 flights and 4 crashes and still going strong.

Fantastic end work. This kind of picture is the driving force for me when I'm building something....

The plane looks great! My wife says that we were probably seperated at birth, it really is an incredible likeness! Did people always confuse you with Paul Newman too? I have that Grumman Comet in my closet too. How many channels?

I built one of these a few months ago and as I was building it I thought the kit was perfect for conversion to RC. As I continued to build, I kept thinking the big wing, light structure and plenty of space in the fuselage make this kit an ideal RC plane. After seeing this, I'm back on ebay looking for another Comet Hellcat. Great work!

this is what I was trying to achieve with this model

near trees, crshed it to keep it from getting stuck in a tree, about 2 hours of repair.

the underside came out well for inflight pictures

looks good in the air but isn'r easy to fly

underhand launch of hellcat
ftomstark, Image # 2287002 Jun 11 17:33

Damage is motor mount, and right wing. Its nearly repaired already. Next attempt will have about 3 degrees down thrust, a couple of notches of down elevator trim and the cg moved forward a little. I'll launch it with about 3/4 throttle instead of full since I'd ather it sag into the ground than zoom and stall.
ftomstark, Image # 2286902 Jun 11 17:26

First flight attempt was not so good. It zommed up at about a 60 degree angle to about 20 feet, stalled then rolled right and came straight down. First flights on a new design are difficult since you don't reall knoe cg location. elevator trim angle and, in this case, down thrust. The real Hellcat has considerable down thrust which isn't shown on the Comet plans and probably should be.

Its not my car. There were several other Model A's for hire with a driver in Prague. As far as I could tell it is a real Model A, not a reproduction.

Wow, very cool. Is that your car?
