Thank you Poppy... I thing this will work better than the carton method... Really I'm suffering with the wing firings... |

Nice detail Poppy. To get recessed panel lines in the 3 balsa kits I have built, I lined them in 0.25mm polystyrene sheet cut to the panel sizes. I also have lined the wings completely in styrene directly over the formers and then engraved the panel lines lightly with a Tamiya scribing tool. Seems to work Ok for the standard of finish I am looking for. |

juliojf, I would suggest using Micro-Fill. Add the balsa wing fillet at rear edge of wing next to fuselage, then start building up with the fill. It takes a while 'cause you need to let each layer dry b-4 sanding, but with patience you should be able to get a perfect fairing. You can also use card stock, a greeting or birthday card will work, and a knife or scissors drawn across surface to get a contour to fit against wing and fuselage. |

Poppy... your work is terrific, congratulations. I wanted to ask you how can I make the wing fairing??? I'm building a Hawker Huirrican (Series 500) and can't go any further because I don't know what material to use (I already tried cereal carton) etc... and don't know how to install the parts to the model.. I hope you can help me!!

I concur...sharpie marker, or something similar. |

I might try this if I were entering a scale masters event or if it were going to the Smithsonian, but I think I'll just stick with my trusty ink pen. |

Me thinks thin monofilament fishing line will give you raised lines and Micr-Mark sells a scibe to recess lines in plastic , wood, or soft metals. |

One way to get raised lines is to heat plastic sprue and stretch it thin while warm, cut into approriate lengths and glue to surface. To get recessed lines, attach thin strips of masking tape to surface, apply several coats of sealer, then remove tape. |

Hey Jedi, I think you just set a goal for some builders to try to achieve. Dont think Iv'e seen it done, but it would be an amazeing feet to accomplish. |

It looks fantastic...as usual your eye for detail is great. Is there a way to get those raised lines and rivets on a balsa plane? |

As you should be, I'd be proud of them too. Poppy, I have a 1/72 Hobby AD-6 Skyraider NIB, a 1/144 Minicraft United Airlines 757-200 NIB, an AMT ERTL 1/48 F-16A Falcon NIB and a Haswgawa 1/32 Spitfire Mk.vb that I had started to put together but my old eyes and fingers, just couldn't do it. I'd like to trade them for balsa models. Interested? If you want pics. I'll send them. contact me at wdrobinson2003@yahoo.com |

Jedi, after 50-60 hrs. of work on these plastic models, I am just as proud of them as my wood projects. |

Hey Poppy. Amazing detail! Let me know what plastic kits you want to upload and I'll add them in as new aircraft types. |

Chris, you are correct. |

I'm assuming that as this is 1/48 scale it's a plastic kit?! |
