Thanks for the kind words everyone. The scale of this model in approximately 1/30 with a wing span of 12". All these models are around the same wing span but scale varies of course. I may not have been clear on these kits. They are still being produced by Ron. Not only does he still make and sell all the original Monogram Speedee Bilt kits, except the bombers of course, but he has added a number of his own design which are similar style. He sells them for $33.00 including postage. He also sells a number of replacement parts for anyone needing new decals or small parts for the original Monogram kits. Unfortunately he does not have a website . He does all his business through the mail but he will send you a current listing and prices if you request it. His email is andersonrw at verizon dot com. Just replace the at and dot. This is to keep his email from being harvested.

I like the results of this Monogram Speedee kit.

Very Very nice Build, the more I look at it it brings me back 57 years ago. I sure would love to get my knuckledrager hands on one of these. A Hardy Well Done my Friend. Boats

Another top notch build.

Except for the wing tanks this kit was built out of the box. I do regret not doubling the stringers but I will do this on the next kit I build.

The wing tanks are not include in the kit although the F9F-5 always had them since they were built into the wings

I left the model glossy

I did not use the kit decals since I felt they were oversize. The model is around 1/30 scale but I used a 1/48 set which I think looks okay. It is one of the aircraft from the movie Bridges at Toko-Ri

I painted the supplied pilot. He is kind of silly looking but that is the way he is cast

Bottom view. I did detail the main landing gears since the kit only included wire struts

Painting completed. I painted the antiglare panel and then masked it to keep it flat

Excellent decision !

The nose 20mm cannons were just too small for me so I drilled them out and replaced them with brass tubing

After many coats of sanding sealer I put the tissue paper on

These were really nice kits. I built several one of which was a P-47N that I still have the landing gear. I remember the wings being pre-formed balsa wwith the center cut out requiring covering with tissue.

Ahoy imsjim Very Very nice that kit brings back a lot of memories I was 15 years old in 1955 when this kit was first produced. for $.98 cents you got a loot of kit back in those days I had an old B-17 and Mr. Mulligan I built the F9F above it was built to fly I mounted a hook on the nose and used a sling shot to launch it to the heavens it glided well. Thank you for the memories. Boats

For those who do not remember these kits they were sold in the early 50's. I remember building them as a kid. They were supposed to fly but not really. The jets used Jetex 50 engines.

This is Don Anderson's kit which is an almost duplicate of the original Monogram Speedee Bilt kit. The only real exception is the plastic parts or now plastic resin. He also improves the kit with a few extra pieces.
