You got it, Steve. Another category (wood, plastic) on the aircraft type puts it on each part of the site. Just getting my development environment setup on my local machine again, along side a new Guillow kit on the building board. :)

I'm sure James can set it up such that the two mediums can be viewed entirely separate with little or no mixing. For example, imagine you are firmly in the wood crowd and all you have to do to keep the VA looking the same way as it does right now is to not click on the menu item that takes you over to see the plastics. That's pretty much what he said in the second comment, I'm just trying to elaborate a little.

I agree entirely with Poppy.

As one who has pushed the envelope a bit as to what is shown on this site (a Sherman tank, 40mm Bofors), I appreciate the eclectic quality of this site and what James has done. There are other sites that are strictly plastic. I doubt this site will be overrun by plastic modelers. Right now I'm working on an MQ-9 Reaper drone that is fiberglas. I've used brass, plastic, aluminum, just like many others to make the parts I want to make. James, Great Job with this site and please keep up the good work.

1/72nd definately IS itty bitty. Good looking model jgood. Although it's true that there are a ton of plastic modeling sites out there, I don't think we have to worry about VA loosing her spirit. I prefer balsa too, but I think the spirit of this site is determined by the quality and helpfulness of all the members, and the awsome build tips and different techniques that are shared here.

VA hasn't lost anything.
Uncle benz, Comment for image # 2626407 May 12 05:29
Yes of course! But VA lost her spécial spirit ! As lot of sites ...

I like plastic models. There are many ways to enjoy this hobby, and each requires different skills. It's a pleasure to see them all. Hooray for you, James.

I think the owner of the site makes the decision and James owns the site.

Please no plastic models on VA !!! To mutch sites on web to this hobby ! The spirit of plastic builders and woodies (espécialy flying models)not on the same way. I don't want to see lot of plastic models every day. Yes I built plastic to, but it's so easy !!!
David Duckett, Comment for image # 2626406 May 12 09:13
Steve's right, of course.
SteveM, Comment for image # 2626406 May 12 09:09
Nothing about the VA ever claimed wood only, it just seems to attract woodies. But a separate plastic area does seem like a good idea. Did you spray or brush the finish?
jgood, Comment for image # 2626406 May 12 05:40
BTW, I plan to separate the plastic models into a separate section of VA. That way, if the plastic offends, you don't have to see it!

This is a 1/72nd scale. It's amazing how tiny they are, after working on 30" aircraft more recently, And full screen photo's really do show how bad my work is. Oh well, Next one will be better! I have read that it's good to cover them with clear floor polish, then put the decals on, then matt lacquer. We'll see...

Humbrol Acrylic paints. Acrylics are a new thing to me, I always used to use enamels. Much nicer to work with acrylics, it seems.
