Sounds like a good plan. I'm not sure how well this kit flies unless you change out the wood with lighter balsa. All the pro's seem to change the wood to get them to fly well. But if nothing else, it will make a nice display model, and you will have learned some good building skills. |

by the way, i think what i might do is not add any color to the hellcat, fly it a bunch of times, and then spray paint it blue and add the decals and keep it as a decoration. |

thank you! if you look at the old picture of the fuse the bottom half of it has no stringers. i have started covering the fuse in sections and i have completed the first section. the very back will be a pain to cover, but its possible! the slow stick is not even close to finished. :-). my dad and i still have to attach the servos, speed controller, the works! when its finished, i would like to fly it at bicentenial, because i think the field i fly at is cursed! good news about the tyro. have you been able to fly it yet since the motor came off? |

Looks great, Rhys. Seems like you have become an aircraft engineer pretty quickly! Where are the extra stringers? The slow-stick looks good too. Ready to fly? I put a new brushless motor in my Tyro yesterday, will upload pics soon. |

i have added more stringers to the fuse because it will be eaisier to cover that way. |

I started using walmart acrylics. They .99 a bottle you need to delute them with water alittle not much and they are very smooth with very good paint pigments.I aways mix in a seperate can or bowl to get want i want. This is a water base paint |

I think lots of people use Acrylics, Rhys. Tamiya do a good range of them, I think. |

If its to fly then you'll have to consider the weight of the plane. Spray painting adds a lot of weight so its usually best to use some coloured tissue. Once the tissue is dry you'll have to give it two to three coats of dope to tighten it like skin on a drum. You could use shrinking dope mixed 50/50 with cellulose thinners or non shrinking dope or banana oil. If its for display purposes then dope it and spray away to your hearts content. I also stuggled with applying tissue using water and glue. The method i finished up doing was to brush the balsa with 50/50 dope and thinners then wet the tissue with water and dab it with a towel to take away most of the moisture. Then lay it over the balsa. Then carefully brush over the tissue following the balsa with thinners or the 50/50 mix and it seeps through the tissue and sticks to the dope that you painted on the frame. Then the tissue shrinks when the water dries and you can then dope the tissue with banana oil or non shrinking dope. |

thanks. i just put the tissue on the other side and that was a pain to glue on but it looks like it will dry good. |

Looking great, Rhys. Middle of the wing looks nice and tight! I've never painted tissue - I'm sure someone here has. Anyone? |

the middle of the wing is dried i just needed to put a bit more of glue and water on the edges. the sides of the wing are just drying. i plan to spaypaint the plane blue. will that work? |

1 half of the horizontal stabilizer almost completed. it just needs to dry and then i have to do the other side. |

Cats do like rubber bands. Does not help their digestive tract though. I try to keep all mine put away when the girls are around. |

I'm still here watching planes being built and flown, I'm just too busy working two jobs to have much time for hobbies. |

James can teach you to fly and take good pictures. |

See if you can manually increase the ISO on the camera, Rhys.See if it has an indoor, no flash setting. Flash will help too, but the colours won't look as natural.
I have lots of spare rubber bands for the motor. Will bring some next time I see you. |

Look what i found by the table i build my planes at. its the rubber band that came with the plane since it is rubber powered. must of been my cat. :-p |
