Curtiss-Wright SP-55 Ascender, an experimental prototype built to test unconventional aircraft designs in the 1940s. This is a scratch-built from plans drawn by Earl Stahl. Model is 1/24 scale ‘stick and paper’ with some balsa covering. |

This aircraft is written up in the book THE WORLD'S WORST AIRCRAFT. Only 4 real Ascenders were built in 1940, of which two crashed, killing one of the pilots. Should be a neat model however, when completed. |
