On Sunday morning I assembled it, gave it a misting of Krylon, and took it to the contest. I was second. The other model is a Wade Wiley Basin Flyer.

The tissue shrinking was done over night.

By Saturday night I had it covered and ready to shrink tissue.

I used my usual clothes pin/tongue depresser method to make sure I got the formers straight

This Rufe was built for the Black Sheep Exhibition Squadron "Put A Rufe Over Your Head" contest. The model could be built as a Zero but you got extra points for the float. I was reminded that the contest was upcoming on Sunday and started it on Friday afternoon. I knew that my wife would not cut me any slack on our usual Friday activities but I build anyway.

Washout looks severe in this view, but is only 1/16 inch. Allows transition from power to glide without stall/spin.

Rufe wing pinned down to dry. Shrinking done with rubbing alcohol, 1/16 inch wedges under trailing edge of wing tips for washout. Done this way it stays.
