Very true!In the painting it looks like the sky is faded and paint is lost but this is the way the artist wanted it.This is sunrays shooting through a misty day,The only paint mising is on his left knee where I had airplanes leaning against it.Thet say I should trash it I have fought for this painting many years. But i see something in it.To me its amazing |

I would guess it's older. It is well done and really deserves to be in a fancier frame but frames get expensive very quickly. Ready made frames are much cheaper than having one custom made. I recently mailed a large painting and the lady at the post office told me she paid over $800 for a frame for the $800 PRINT she bought! |

I have a kit for a solid wood mosquito in the closet. When I run out of everything else, maybe. |

The Pico tiger moth is a very slow under power model. You have to turn ahead of time before reaching your tuning points and climd ratio is very slow.It is a fun plane for lazzy flying. Its what I refer to as a floater.I was up at 5:30am WHATING FOR DAY BREAK LOL!Started at 6:15am it was worth it. |

This GWS Tiger Moth can be beautified.
With thin shaped hard wood in place of the
nylon interplane struts and modification
of landing gear/wheels to a scale look,
the model still flies well. |

i've airbrushed enamel paints, what's the preferred paint for tissue models in complications and final results, enamel or acrylic? |
pfinn, Comment for image # 16715 | 05 Mar 10 18:57 |
Maybe not a "Bucket" with the solvent base paints! |

If you choose to airbrush acrylic, you really, REALLY, need to make sure to thoroughly clean out your airbrush often during and immediately after use (unless you like taking apart little things!). You're going to want to "Backwash" with the air pressure with the airbrush half submerged (tip down and along with paint cup if it attached permanently) in a small (or large) bucket of clean water. If you have a single action airbrush open up the feed screw for max output or for double action pull back completely (you can also loosen the needle collet screw [usually in the handle] and open it up a little more), depress trigger so that you are feeding the clean water through the airbrush (Bubbles, bubbles, bubbles). While still holding the the brush open, cover the tip with your finger and this will result in a "Blow-back", reversing the flow towards the cup. Repeat this many times. Remove the nozzle tip and inspect the area behind it. Be EXTREMELY careful not to bend the needle. If you do, the airbrush will not spray evenly. Buy a new needle. It's very difficult to try and straighten them out. Believe me. I've tried. All this only takes less that a minute and will save you major headaches down the line. This also works for solvent based paints. Phil. |
