Thanks Huey - you really know your planes! I didn't sound like a total "dummy", when I phoned the Windsor Flying Club inquiring about the RV6 - they knew the plane and pilot. It's a "Van's RV-7", upgraded from the RV-6, introduced 2001, with larger wings, larger fuel tank (38 gal prev to 42 gal now), and a larger rudder to improve spin recovery. It's a home built kit plane by Richard VanGrunsven - price of the kit $23,000 to $34,500, and estimated completion cost at $55,000 to $116,000 depending on installed avionics equipment, and finishing - it takes 1,800 to 2,000 hours to build it yourself. |

Whatever you decide to call it, I think I'd wet myself if I got to strap it on my back! |

It's an RV4 or a RV6, and its polished aluminum... Lots of work to keep it that clean. |

Which leads to the second good story in my brief flying career, which I already emailed James about. |

Mr Good: I vaguely remember the dead reconing Dalton flight computer. The E-6B was developed in the United States by Naval Lt. Philip Dalton (1903–1941) in the late 1930s. The name comes from its original part number for the U.S Army Air Corps in World War II.
Philip Dalton was a Cornell University graduate who joined the United States Army as an artillery officer, but soon resigned and became a Naval Reserve pilot from 1931 until he died in a plane crash with a student practicing spins. |

Mr. Good - I was just a poor boy fledgling "wanna be a bush pilot" back then, with only two good stories to tell - I hang off of the anecdote stories of the "Real Deal", Old Timer pilots like you and Huey and others. |
