It's not a power issue. It's a c/g issue. At 200 knots, it's like using 15 in of manifold pressure. No thrust, on drag. I built 2deg of down and right thrust into the nose block. |

Took it to the Post Office, it weighs 6.5 oz.. Picked up some lead tire weight to get the c/g correct. More test flights tomorrow . |

You've got quite a beautiful work of art there my friend. I have to go along with bsadonkill (sp?) and add a bit of down thrust. If it still tends to climb after the rubber band is finished, then try gently bending the elevator down just a tad..... :0) |

Stalling out straight ahead is a good thing ! Try adding some down thrust , then add more turns . |

Oh! - you mean that amount of ballast! How much did the plane weigh with out ballast? How much does the ballast weigh? That is one sharp looking bipe! |

Any more ballast and you might have a submarine. Really a good looking plane and a straight ahead stall good. |

Tried some test "Glides" this afternoon, 200 turns of two strands of 1/8th. It went 10 ft and stalled straight ahead. Didn't drop a wing. The amount of ballast is "Whow" amount. May have to double the horse power. |

Good luck with your test glides - I hope you don't have to add too much weight (if any), to balance it. Could be a little trickier to trim with that straight wing, than if it had built in dihedral. FANCY TIRES !! Looking forward to seeing this one airborne ... !! |

This kit also came with these tires. I inflated them with my airbrush compressor. |

Huey - thanks for modeling such an important historical a/c (I don't know how you guys find these kit "treasures" ...), of which I would never have known about! The plan was designed and drawn up by 19 yr old George (Bud) Gere Jr.(who died at 19 yrs old). It was one of the finest light planes ever designed - a Depression era Homebuilt, of 19 ft wingsapan, lightplane biplane that used car engines! |

Got it on EBay , the kit is dated 1976. The engine had vac-formed parts. Don't know how many kits he produced. I'll have to look in some old issues of magazines. |
