Here's a video of it flying. I had a good flight indoor, chasing the penny planes around the ceiling...made the penny plane fliers nervous, but somehow I screwed up the video. We were chased out of the gym because they were setting up for the pre-schooler's lunch (gotta love summer vacation) so I got an outdoor flight. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xk8Ypfxbtfo?rel=0&

I thought that I had a production prototype all sorted out but it did some strange things at the O.F.F.C. Predicted Time/Spot Landing contest last Wednesday. It flew fine in dead air but modest breezes discombobulated it. I had to put it on the balance rig and go back to the math to make sure that it was simple for anyone to trim. A few subtle changes (You probably would not see them in a photograph.) and now it's balancing with no ballast and flying outdoors nicely. I will check the indoor performance at the O.F.F.C. meeting tomorrow. If all goes well, I'll cut one more production level prototype and if it is trouble free this weekend I will have it available on my web site next week.

That is just plain cool. Very nice!

The is the low wing version of my second beginner's kit, the Satellite. When I have decided which version of the Satellite to kit, I will have all three of my beginners kits, the Plain Plane, Satellite, and Double Trouble on my web site by the end of the month. Having a little fun preprinting my tissue with waterproof ink.

Hi Howard! Nice video of your Double Trouble bipe flying - looks like at least 30 seconds - sure beats my 15 - 25 second flights today with my 18" Air Camper. I do want one of those bipes. LWM Richard

Last one in the beginner's kit series, Double Trouble. Must have name and address on this one when flown outdoors. At 26 grams with the rubber in it and 93 square inches of wing area its a bit of a floater.

Here's a video of a test flight. Wing and tail outlines have been changed and a low wing version is in the works. If it flies as well the low wing version will be produced, just a matter of style. https://youtu.be/W2hll5jKJME

Oddly enough the interest in getting into this hobby seems to be high in men and women in their 40s. This is where the new members are coming from in the Black Sheep Squadron. Of course the O.F.F.C. offshoot of the Black Sheep is for seniors. At 74 I'm the second youngest person in that picture.

What is going to happen to this craft when all of the senior craftsman are building in heaven? Is the current generation going to craft video games of aero planes?

Great video Howard - you guys ARE having too much fun!

This is the group shot at the endo of the O.F.F.C. One Design Contest. Eight of the dozen kits I distributed to the members showed up for the contest. A good time was had by all. This video shows some of the contest flights. https://youtu.be/VLGIjD5NNh0

This is the prototype of the next one in my three plane beginners series. It will be called the Satellite.

Name updated, Howard. Nice covering job.

This model now has a name. It's called the "Plain Plane". The production kits will come with blue and white tissue.

Howard, I am very impressed at how much work you put into designing a model, building and rebuilding and constantly retesting it, to make sure it actually flies well. That really sounds like a novel idea you came up with as Contest Director (CD) for the Old Farts Flying Club (OFFC) contest. Design and Laser cut (with your own laser) 12 kits of your perfected "One Design" plane, and then send them to all of the "Master" Free Flight Modellers in your club, so that they can each build the SAME model for the contest! I wish I could be there to witness the different Flight "performances" of the individual planes after each guy "trims out" his own plane in his own style - now that would be something to see ... By the way, Howard, great job designing the Guillow's laser cut "Beaver" and "Porter" plane kits. Please count me in for one of those "One Design" kits - or whatever name you eventually give it.
