David Duckett | 20-Apr-07 14:25 | I flew several times from 1960 to 63 in one painted like this. |
John M Oshust | 20-Apr-07 18:16 | Is this the chosen color scheme for your plane? Great photograph! |
David Duckett | 20-Apr-07 19:17 | This won. There are over 5000 photos of these on this site, www.airliners.net. |
moostang51 | 20-Apr-07 19:56 | Nice photo.....even nicer fairings. Good luck. |
David Duckett | 20-Apr-07 20:29 | The fairings are one piece plastic and actually fit. Very well! The 2 engine plastic pieces fit, top and bottom, really well (!!!) and the cowlings fit on the mounts. If built by the plans the 2 plastic nose pieces will NOT fit but build them as I did, attach them right at the git-go, and you'll be much more pleased with your build.
By the way, flying on this machine was great! It was solid as a rock and smooth as silk. I flew on them again in 66 and 68 in Viet Nam and they were still the same, but with a bit more subdued color scheme. |
moostang51 | 20-Apr-07 20:40 | Posted my comment as you were uploading images. Beautiful crisp detail lines all around. Off tomorrow, first time since early January so I'll be working on the B-24 and waiting for more progress photos from your end. |
David Duckett | 20-Apr-07 21:54 | Actually, now that you have some time off, I'm really looking forward to seeing some photos of your first encounter with SGM Grade silkspan. I know what this looks like and the progress from here on will be small increments at a time and not nearly as interesting as what you're doing with that BUFF 24, ( BUFF is what the crews called them, Big Ugly Fat F...... ) Fellows. |
