rayl | 24-Mar-15 15:58 | Oh Yes. The landing gear retraction mechanism, which was chains/ sprockets and cranks were lifted right from the Leoning amphibian (IIRC) and used up to the F4F Wildcats. I read a article about when the F4F's launched off of the carrier, you would watch the Wildcat weave and wobble as the pilot cranked the gear up which I think was about 60 turns of the crank in the cockpit. There is no mistaking Grumman heritage in the lines of their A/C. Nice Model by the way!! |
