Looking great, Rhys. Middle of the wing looks nice and tight! I've never painted tissue - I'm sure someone here has. Anyone?

thanks. i just put the tissue on the other side and that was a pain to glue on but it looks like it will dry good.

If its to fly then you'll have to consider the weight of the plane. Spray painting adds a lot of weight so its usually best to use some coloured tissue. Once the tissue is dry you'll have to give it two to three coats of dope to tighten it like skin on a drum. You could use shrinking dope mixed 50/50 with cellulose thinners or non shrinking dope or banana oil. If its for display purposes then dope it and spray away to your hearts content. I also stuggled with applying tissue using water and glue. The method i finished up doing was to brush the balsa with 50/50 dope and thinners then wet the tissue with water and dab it with a towel to take away most of the moisture. Then lay it over the balsa. Then carefully brush over the tissue following the balsa with thinners or the 50/50 mix and it seeps through the tissue and sticks to the dope that you painted on the frame. Then the tissue shrinks when the water dries and you can then dope the tissue with banana oil or non shrinking dope.

I think lots of people use Acrylics, Rhys. Tamiya do a good range of them, I think.
