| Two of the most important and iconic airplanes were seeded by Boeing when they designed the 247 twin passenger plane. First when Donald Douglas took the design and told his engineers, “like this, but better” and they created the legendary DC-2/3..and Boeing used the 247 plan form, expanded it to 4 engines and created the B-17..the legendary heavy bomber of the War. Your Fortress looks very clean. |

| The positive feedback and history are greatly appreciated. Couple comments: David-this build approach should look very familiar. Your didactic has led to this result thus far. It was tough to count the number of 3/32" balsa strips on your build but I did it! Thank you for your guidance. As far as covering/finishing, I have been experimenting and have discovered an "odor free" means of achieving a smooth silk-spanned finish. Fingers crossed. |

| I'll be interested to see how that "odor free" works. A couple of guys in the he RC club here use water based polyurethane, but I haven't tried it yet. Chicken, I guess. Your model looks great. |

| This is a wonderful looking build! Odor free finish? Is that after you have applied the silk-span? I'm a big fan Eze-Dope thinned 2:1 with water. Very similar to working with Nitrate Dope without the smell. But always interested in new techniques. |

| Eze-Dope is being used. I have covered the stabilizer, the tail, the rudder and the elevators with impressive results. Silkspan covering, applied wet, 30% EZE Dope sprayed to anchor on frame, let dry. Spray on 50% EZE x 2 coats, drying in between. Sand edges with 400 grit sandpaper to finish. Pictures to follow. |
