heywooood | 11-Jul-18 11:45 | it is a great kit, as you have already noted the Dumas line up is very good. The laser cutting, as with all of their materials, is top flight.
quick note: on assembling the LG I deviated from the plan. I cut the wire just before the first bend leaving just enough to enter the top of the wheel fairings. Then I reinforced the fairings on the inside with 1/2" dia. x 1/16" thick balsa cut to 'half-round' shape and secured the wheels with an axle of wire passed through the center of those reinforcements..This precluded having to either get the bent wire to fit inside of the fairings or wrap around them visibly from the outside. The LG wire 'stems' were run through the balsa gear legs along 'channels' that I made using a round jeweler's file, prior to the halves being joined together, and then on through the top of the fairings through equal diameter holes I had pre-drilled there. This kept the gear aligned too as well as adding strength to the connection |
