This is for the guys who want to build a really big sceatch build, if you have your own lumber yard.

What is it
David Duckett16-Apr-08 00:49
It's a C-124 Globemaster.
Abby Marie16-Apr-08 08:52
David, you are correct. I flew on this to England when I was in the service. Don't the wings look like a B-29"s wings?
David Duckett16-Apr-08 09:48
Yes and it also doesn't look like it could fly. These were regular visitors to Torrejon AB, just outside Madrid, when I was stationed there from 1960 to 63. I never flew on one but I did hear it referred to "Old Shaky" and that the 124 was the airspeed.

This one kept blowing jugs on number 3 engine. 3 times at the end of the runway, and back to be fixed. 4th time the charm. I saw one at Travis that was rigged wrong on the elevator, and 3 men killed when it crashed.

So right... Everyone on board was shaking when it finally took off.

That panel truck looks like my first car. A 1953 Suburban.
Abby Marie16-Apr-08 15:57
It was 1953 when I few in this shaky thing to England.

Must have been better than a "broom stick!"
Abby Marie16-Apr-08 17:03
John, my broom never shook like these tin cans did.
John M Oshust16-Apr-08 17:31
You must fly a new version. My only shake was in a DC-3... unless you count Russian aircraft!
