Cockpit components painted in Tamiya cockpit green, will then start painting the individual components in appropriate colours.

Beautiful! These look better than a finely molded resin pit for a plastic model. Well done!!

You're getting some high praise from some great builders. Very well deserved, too.

Hey Nigel, do you know if there is any difference between the P-40E and N cockpits? Is there any difference between the side panels inside the cockpit?
John M Oshust05-Mar-11 18:18
Nice work and I see you included the all important muffler bearing cut off switch!
Roring4005-Mar-11 21:08
Ryan, according to the really good book I picked up 'Modelling the P-40' the basics of the cockpit sides are the same. Most of the differences are on or with the shape of, the instrument panel. Bonus point to John O for spotting the addition of the muffler bearing cut off switch - not easily detectable. That P-40 you are building is putting mine to shame !!!

Thanks for the compliment Nigel but I must admit I'm basing a lot of what I've learned from you and Davids P-40's. Not that I'm trying to copy you guys or anything, I just think of your work as great template. I am however planning on adding some flaps to mine. Thanks for the knowledge on the cockpit. Now I can move forward with building it!!!

I'm still trying to find tv antennae too!

That's the absolute beauty of this site. I blatantly copied the likes of David, John, Rod and Poppy and just adapted some stuff to suit what I was looking for. Before that I knew nothing. I don't doubt that many will be picking up major skills from watching what you are doing - me included. Collectively our knowledge base just gets wider and better.
