SteveM | 27-Feb-09 22:17 | "The Series II aircraft differed from earlier Series I aircraft mainly in the engine nacelles. To cure the airflow problems around the nacelle it was extended beyond the wing trailing edge. Additionally, the wheel well doors were enlarged and the exhaust system was changed to individual exhaust stacks which were covered by a shroud to hide the exhaust flames for night operations." |
SteveM | 27-Feb-09 22:25 | A few pages earlier - "The only adverse characteristic that came to light during pre-service testing was some tail buffeting, caused by disturbed airflow aft of the engine nacelles. This trouble was cured on later production aircraft by lengthening the nacelle so that it projected beyond the wing trailing edge."
Based on the exhaust shroud I'd say Guillow's was modeling the Series II with the extended nacelles, but since the nacelles are not extended past the wing TE on the plans it seems the kit is not entirely accurate. |
