jerry campbell | 27-Jan-09 13:21 | The basic components are built, doped and sanded. The cowling is in four pieces of balsa laminated together. The balsa is excellent quality and shapes and sands easily. As do the gun troughs and MG covers. However, they are undersized and are supposed to be installed at an angle with tissue covering the gap. I added extra balsa which caused a bit of extra work. The manufacturer takes a lot of short cuts to save weight at the expense of ease of building which again caused a great deal of work. I would not build this kit except that I love the subject and it is the only Fw 190D on the market. |
