Heywood - welcome to VA !! Very excellent pics of apparently flawless models - how long have you been modelling ? |

Thank you for the welcome, LastWoodsMan - I have been making these infill balsa models for about two years now..but I have built many plastic models over the years. Since I was a kid. Long time now |

I had to carve this prop from balsa as the mfg only supplied a plastic, rubber band style propeller with the kit. There was no drawing of a scale prop on the plans either - so reference photo's of the actual plane were used as a guide. I have made other rare attempts to carve props in the past with little or no success. This one came out alright though. I hope I can do it again for the Laird when the time comes.. |

Very nice work/paint/build. What did you use for the motor?

Williams Brothers used to make (now discontinued) dummy engines for use in gas and electric RC planes. They made the PW Wasp in a 1/12" scale, which this is. I just had to cut the cylinders down a bit - the engine is 4-1/4" dia. but the cowl on this model is only 4" dia..so I shortened the pistons and valve rods to make it fit. It was on an old Stearman kit that I had built years ago and recently got knocked off the shelf. |

*UPDATE* Williams Brother's still make all of their original scale model accessories, but you have to buy from them directly. It is the dealers and wholesale distributors that are no longer carrying the products as stocked inventory.

Thanks for the Williams Bros. Heads up. I was in need of pilots. Just ordered up four! |

I just received the Engine kit and pilot for the Laird Super Solution kit from Dumas (due on Tuesday) and I want to do a hangar build thread here but there is no listing for that kit. Whom do I ask for having it added to the list?.. |
