I just have the cheap 4 channel E-Flite DSM2 transmitter. With its dual rates, this transmitter is perfectly adequate for these models. The person I am building this plane for has a Spectrum DX7 transmitter. This is a rather nice, fully programmable. DSM2 transmitter.

Maybe you aleady know this so I appologize in advance. But anyway, with this setup (dual outboard ailerons) I'm finding that aileron differential is a must. Adverse yaw is quite prevalent with these small models. Of course you can do it mechanically (offsetting the control horn to create the Diff.) but with these linear servos it's not as easy to fine tune. But with a programmable trans. it's a piece of cake when using two aileron servos such as you are (hence the inquiry about transmitter). With the DX7 (Jimmy and I use these too) you need to set them up as "Flaperons" in the main model setup menu. When this is enabled, Differential is automatcally and electronically controlled. You just set the percentage of diff. that works best in the setup mode. Set the flap settings all to zero so you won't mistakenly hit the switch and add flap (or set some flap if you like for fun, or reflex for some washout? but I digress ;)...). To use the flapperon if your using the PZ ar6400 board, it needs to be programmed so that the two servo outputs are ch2 (aileron)and ch6 (AUX1) See the instruction manual for the ar6400 to do this. If you don't the two outputs will be ail. and reverse ail. and the flapperon feature will not work. Also, if the downthrust is not quite correct, you can mix some down elevator with the throttle to compensate. It works really nice. I'm pretty awful at estimating downthrust angles so I use this mix. Plus you can keep the propeller relatively in-line with the axis of the fuselage. Kinda makes it look a little bit more scale. Sorry if you already know this. I don't mean to step on toes. Phil

I've only had a "Computer" radio for about a year now. Before that I did everthing....ummm.. Mecha-Geometrically?;o/. He He He. For about 35 years now. Was kind of a purist. "My thumbs are good enough!" Well, maybe I'm just getting older.
