Luke War | 15-Nov-08 22:59 | This is my first major balsa aircraft built to completion. I learned a lot from building it and hope to use that to make my next project even nicer. The model has its flaws, but I like it. Any constructive criticism or tips are more than welcome! :) Thanks for checking my plane out! |
jgood | 16-Nov-08 10:16 | Luke, this looks really really good. |
jgood | 16-Nov-08 10:16 | What's it covered with? |
Luke War | 16-Nov-08 10:34 | Hey thanks very much jgood I really appreciate it. :)
It's covered with good old tissue paper. Its all I know to use...
I initially painted it with a spray coating of white recommended to me by my local hobby shop, but it went on very unevenly and ran badly. After getting over my frustration I went back to the reliable paint and brush and applied many layers of white over the bad spray job, then put on the red over top.

Creosotewind | 18-Nov-08 09:22 | The trick for any good spray job, either from a can or air brush, is many light coats. That can be harder to control from a spray can, but by spraying from a further distance, that will help. Nice clean work. Herr makes nice kits. That's the basis for my Piper Cub. |
Luke War | 18-Nov-08 10:12 | Yeah I am going to dig out the old Testor's airbrush that I got years back but never used. I need to rig up some sort of spray booth though...living in an apartment doesnt give me much room to spraypaint in! |
