David Duckett | 12-Nov-13 07:00 | I've seen these scallops on many models but didn't realize they were used on real planes, too. |
lukebozek1 | 12-Nov-13 07:03 | David, did I miss something or is this Bill's garage? |
David Duckett | 12-Nov-13 07:09 | :) it's a photo I found on the web to illustrate what a turtle deck is. |
John M Oshust | 12-Nov-13 10:30 | Thank you sir.. I guess I have unknowingly fabricated a few. Dorsal fuselage. On a turtle it is the carapace. |
Creosotewind | 13-Nov-13 14:38 | Like you, David, I'm surprised as well. These seem a bit exaggerated. I've read that the wing scallops on a SPAD are because the trailing edges are wire, that constrict once the fabric is coated. |
David Duckett | 13-Nov-13 16:29 | That's how the Guillows Wright flyer is built. |
BillParker | 13-Nov-13 18:36 | Now... That's what I wanna do... |
