| pakasit1812 | 18-Apr-10 13:09 | | Do you plan to replace the tail skid with a scale wheel?
Yes, such a nice airframe deserves it. |
| jimbothehotdog | 19-Apr-10 03:55 | | I did not consider it... just been thinking about the covering and how I am going to paint it. I want to airbrush it. As it turns out my neighbor was kind enough to give me an airbrush, practically new!! So all I need is an air supply and I'll be set.
As far as the tail wheel... anyone have any suggestions on where to start (pakasit1812?) materials, etc. I do plan on trying to fly her. Can it be made removable... I believe it was a retractable wheel but not completely sure. I have looked at a lot of pictures of Spitfires and some show the main landing gear up but the tail wheel is not??? |
| pakasit1812 | 19-Apr-10 05:45 | | The real Spitfire doesn't retract tailwheel. It depends if you wanna fly it rubber powered or electric R/C. For the rubber powered, leave it as is, as you need to save weight to minimum. But for R/C you can install moveable/steerable small light tail wheel onto it. The small wheel should be available in good hobby supplier shop. Try 1/2" Sullivan's cat. no 350. It comes in small plastic bag with simple instruction how to install it steerable. It moves syncro with rudder movement. If you need more info please let me know, I would be glad to help. |
| jimbothehotdog | 19-Apr-10 06:03 | | Thanks pakasit... for now all my builds are for rubber power... for now. I do see myself on the path to RC though... and it's not that far off I think :0) that may be up to my wif... um, I mean financial adviser ;O)
Going to check out Sullivan products now... |
| pakasit1812 | 19-Apr-10 13:07 | | Keep saying aloud to the sky "oh dear, I'm happy to spend time and money on this Guillow's at home rather than being in a tavern". Then financial advisor will get message. I had passed that milestone! ! ! |
