I am also planning an excursion the Rhinebeck. $50.00 gets you a ride in a Bi-plane. Pictures of their Camel would be appreciated!

What elevatoranj neglected to say was that I INSPECT HIS PLANES ALSO for any inperfections! - LOL. The actual home page for the Rhinebeck Aerodrome can be found at www.oldrhinebeck.org. You can e-mail either one of us if you want any pictures.

Oldrhinebeckaerodrome.com., better spelling this time.

Elevatoranj, type in oldrhineckaerodrome.com. When I lived in NY, I visited there in early spring and the weather was uncooperative for flights. Great just walking through the hangars though.

What are the advantages of sealing with dope, I have never tried that. also Novice builder and I are going to visit the Rhinebeck air museum this coming weekend and would be glad to get close up pics of any planes that we can get next to and E-mail them to those that want them. I can't find the website that you can see all the planes on but I'm sure Marcia will post the site here after she gets out of work.
elevatoranj, Comment for image # 432203 Sep 07 10:26
It took me 34 years to get off the 'Dope' why do you think I have so much time to build planes and hold Marcia's feet to the fire, On inspections. LOL

As A kid my uncle always used dope....wondered why I was alwyas "happy". I used Elmer's on my Camel. It worked well and W/O the aroma/ My Mig no tissue, no dope! The next build....methinks dope....rekindel dead brain cells from me youth!

I've learned a lot about building planes from this website. What's the pros of using dope as opposed to white glue? Does it really make a difference when the plane gets covered with tissue paper anyway?
poppy, Comment for image # 432202 Sep 07 18:23
Nice job. Ditto on the dope. And do not be sparse with the dope when sealing.
moostang51, Comment for image # 432202 Sep 07 16:42
Nice job. If you can though, use dope to attach and seal. When you go to paint, you'll be extremely glad you did. After a spanking from DD, I'll never mix white glue and dope again.

The extra added stringers had passed Elevatoranj's inspection . . .now I can get ready for the tissue paper.
novice builder, Image # 432102 Sep 07 15:53

Better view of more stringers. Still have a long way to go before it's finished.
novice builder, Image # 432002 Sep 07 15:52

more stringers were added to the fuselage.

marked out for extra stringers. Picture of plane in background is elevatoranj's recent plane that he is in the process of building.

When I made the statement about running into problems with this kit, I was using elevatoranj's computer. . . . .I guess I should have logged in with my user name!
elevatoranj, Comment for image # 429231 Aug 07 03:51
I ran into a few problems with this kit, but boyfriend (elevatoranj) helped me get through them. He attached the wire for wheels because I kept breaking parts of the fuselage!
David Duckett, Comment for image # 429230 Aug 07 18:42
Roger that! I'm guessing this "Sterling" by Estes is not an old Sterling kit for several reasons. The most obvious is that it is a plane "from the 90's". The box is different, too, from all Sterling kits I've ever seen.
John M Oshust, Comment for image # 429230 Aug 07 18:35
Looks like you have the nack for construction.
JohnG., Comment for image # 429230 Aug 07 16:25
Great looking lay-up as is. Hope this goes well for you. The 2 Sterling kits I built were a real bear.....further, they are out of business so no tech assistance.
novice builder, Image # 429230 Aug 07 15:49

Because of this being a modern plane, and because I see what a beautiful job DD and Poppy does, I have to add more stringers to the fuselage in order for this to look correctly.
