There is a critical part of a biplane construction endeavor. That being the fitting of the wings to each other and to the fuselage. The past few days I have addressing this stage of Ogre construction in an hermit like manner.

Locked in my small basement “man cave” located next to the furnace, I have been installing internal pulleys for the aileron cables, covering the wings with poly-span, and finishing aileron construction.

I buried Gumby in a snow drift while I pondered and implemented this critical part of the build. No room for the myth and hijinks associated with his presence, as an error in thought at this critical juncture, could spell disaster for Ogre’s completion and final form.

The moment of truth eventually arrived....that being the dry fitting of the air foils! I was happy to see that all seems well.

When components fall into place and align with each other in a dry elastically bound fit, you can be fairly certain that all will go well when the wings are placed in bonds of the epoxy molecules in the near future.

ANd how is my day going? Glad that you asked. First time to make make my own decals using Testors decal paper: Apparently I did not lay a heavy enough coat of fixative over the decals. TIghtened sphincter, dry mouth, etc. I found that laying a piece of paper towel saturated with white vinegar over the decal softened it enough to gently peel the remenants off with out damaging anything. Whew. Now I will print up some new decals and be sure to spray enough fixative on them.
